The aluminium Mazda FC3S RX7 Turbo II caliper has a significant weight advantage over the cast iron Volvo 240 caliper, features a larger pad area and the advantage of a larger front brake rotor makes for an ideal conversion on 240 series Volvos.

Improved stopping distances and the ability to repeatedly brake from high speed, lap after lap as well as easily available peformance brake pads and the use of an off-the-shelf Volvo 740 Turbo front rotor are some of the advantages.

The Mazda caliper only has one brake line feeding it making bleeding an easier process.
Two of the front brake ports in the brake distribution block need to be blocked with plugs.
Standard Volvo 240 flexible brake lines can be used and short hard lines from the caliper to the strut tube can be used with minor modification/reforming.

The 740 Turbo rotor requires minor modification for use with this conversion, the stud holes in the rotor need to be enlarged to clear the larger diameter wheel studs of the 240 hub.

As we don't deal in 2nd hand item, we'd suggest that customers can source their own calipers from Mazda wreckers, though we may be able to offer suggestions on where to source calipers from depending on your location.
Required components are:

  • Mazda RX7 Turbo II turbo (5 stud models) calipers and short hard lines.
  • DVS Caliper adaptors.
  • 4 x Caliper to adaptor bolt and spring washer. 40mm long. 12 x 1.25 metric thread.
  • 4 x Adaptor to strut tube bolt and spring washer. 40mm long. 12 x 1.75 metric thread.
  • 2 x Brake distribution block plug.
  • Volvo 740 Turbo brake rotors. 22mm thick, 11.25" dia.
  • Brake Pad set for Mazda calipers.

DVS Caliper adaptors are sold with a detailed 'shopping list' of all required components.
The additional components, aside from the adaptors, can be sourced from DVS or various other suppliers.

We can provide ATE and Brembo rotors in both standard and slotted configurations if required as well as a range of EBC brake pads to suit.

ATE and Brembo Rotors


We can supply Volvo 740 Turbo ATE and Brembo rotors, slotted and non-slotted, 22mm thick, 11.25" dia, as used in this conversion.
Wheel stud holes in the 740 rotors need to be enlarged to clear the larger diameter Volvo 240 wheels studs.

These rotors are not stocked items. Please allow a reasonable time frame for delivery.
